Security & Difficult Updates
The WordPress site relied on many outdated plugins, which caused maintenance headaches and even led to a hack. The owners were hesitant to make changes because updates often broke the site.
I built a backend that allows the owners to update content safely and easily without worrying about breaking the site.
Outdated Design & Poor Navigation
The old website had an outdated, cluttered design that was difficult for users to navigate. Visitors had to click through multiple pages to find basic information, which made the experience frustrating.
I redesigned the site with a modern, user-focused layout and simplified navigation. The navbar was condensed into 6 main pages, each with dropdowns so users could easily find the information they needed.
Limited Visual Representation & Inclusivity
The old website didn’t fully showcase the gym’s inclusive training environment and achievements.
Added images throughout the site to reflect all types of students (fighters, beginners, all ages, genders, and skill levels). Created two galleries: one for fights (highlighting the gym's achievements) and one for training (highlighting general classes).
Schedule Accessibility
The old class schedule consisted of two static images, making it hard to read at a glance.
I built a custom filterable schedule so users can quickly find the classes they're interested in.
